Lago Trasimeno

approx 1 hour, 50km (to Tuoro)

Boats to islands leave from several towns, including Tuoro, Castiglione del Lago, Passignano and San Feliciano.  On Isola Maggiore there are chapels visited by St Francis of Assisi (a presence throughout Umbria) and a good fish restaurant (Sauro); most towns have restaurants featuring lake fish.  In Tuoro there is a self-guided tour of the battle sites where Hannibal defeated the Romans - guided tours are also available.  Isola Polvese can also be visited and has a restaurant.
